What paper work did we need to take with us?
You must have taken driving licenses, log book, MOT, insurance, breakdown insurance (recommended), Passport and E1 11 health card.
Were there any restrictions on the type of vehicle other than the £750 cost limit?
Other than the £750 cost limit the choice was yours.
What happened if at the last minute I find that I cannot go?
All participants had to pay the full £250 entrance fee, in the event of cancellation or non-participation your deposit was not refunded but donated in full to the charities.
What happened if I broke down en route?
Breakdown insurance was recommended. All teams were expected to help and assist other teams to the best of their ability. You were asked to ensure that your team carried essential spares. i.e. fan belt, spare wheel (inc. jack and brace), bulbs, oils, water and spark plugs. We had to recommend that a full service was carried out before departure to include timing belt. (as we found out to our cost last year - see gallery).
Could I have brought the kids?
Extra cost was incurred for things like camping, ferry, etc. Please be aware that this trip was organised for adults - choice words, drinking, late nights are the order of the day. You had been warned.
Did I have to camp or could I have used hotels etc?
You could have, but we did not pay for, or organise your hotel stays. Each morning, you would find out your destination that day so you had to make any reservations for that evening yourself en route. Also considered was that you needed to get to our campsite each morning in order to receive your new destination. As organisers, we feel that the evening beer, bbq and banter was a major part of this trip.
If I chose to use hotels, did I have to pay all the £250 deposit?
Yes, the trip was planned as a camping trip, all participants had to pay the full £250.
The deposit did NOT cover hotel / B&B arrangements.
Did we be drive as a convoy?
Once your day’s destination had been issued, you were free to choose your route, depart and drive at your own pace or in convoy. Your choice.
My mate said I could have bought his BMW M3 off him for £750, done the trip and sold it back to him! Is this ok?
I don’t think so matey, All entrant's vehicles must have genuinely reflected their £750 maximum price tag! We checked this out boys & girls !
As we were visiting Nürburg, could we have visited and driven the Nürburgring?
Any teams wishing to chance the Nürburgring did so at their own risk.
Please remember that your insurance will ABSOLUTELY NOT have covered you. (unless you had specific trackday insurance cover)
